I have been reading Francis Chan’s Crazy Love for the last week-ish, and today I came across this quote from A.W. Tozer at the beginning of of Chan’s Ch.6 “When You’re In Love”…
“O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need for further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, the Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, so that I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, “Rise up my love, my fair one, and come away.” Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wandered so long.”
When I find myself loving everything else except Jesus, I want this to be my prayer. It says everything I have ever wanted to say.
Amen dude.
that’s beautiful.
It’s tough how we can love almost every thing this world has, yet seem to forget the God who really deserves our full love.
Very refreshing to read that.
I love A.W. Tozer. I highly recommend all of his books. I really love the series he has on the attributes of God. Knowledge of the Holy is my favorite though.
How do you like Crazy Love? I keep seeing it, but don’t know if I should pick it up.
